New to Immunisation for HCSWs (1/2 day workshop + online)

Health Academy are pleased to offer a series of practical face-to-face vaccination skills workshops in various locations throughout the country. These workshops are designed to cover the clinical skills required for any new HCSW vaccinator or for those who have not vaccinated recently and require a practical update.

Who are these face-to-face vaccination skills workshops suitable for?

These face-to-face workshops are suitable for any HCSW who has had time out from practice and wishes to update and refresh their immunisation skills or for those that are new to vaccination.

You will also be allocated the ‘New to Immunising’ online course which is self-directed and can be completed in your own time. 

This combination has been designed in line with the National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training.

So what modules have we included in the training?

The following topics are included in the session:

• Injection technique (IM & SC) practical session
• Basic Life Support practical session (Level 2 CSTF)
• Management of anaphylaxis and use of adrenaline
• Current issues in immunisation
• Pneumococcal, Shingles, B12 deficiency
  

How long do the face-to-face workshops last?

We have scheduled an AM and PM sessions. The sessions will run for 3.5hrs therefore, either starting at 9am  or 1.30pm depending on which course you select.

Session times are:

• Morning: 9.00 – 12.30
• Afternoon: 13.30 – 17.00
