Course Description

Perfectly suited to those working in a clinical role, this course is designed for anyone required to perform life-saving care in an emergency situation prior to the arrival of emergency services or a cardiac arrest team.

The course encompasses a variety of topics, and updates the important skills of resuscitation, airway management, managing anaphylaxis, and use of an automated external defibrillator.

We make extensive use of practical scenarios and simulation-led training appropriate to the candidates' work environment to ensure our courses are engaging, interesting and relevant to their day to day duties.

  • Understand the chain of survival
  • The principles of initial assessment
  • Learn how to manage a choking casualty
  • How to place someone in the recovery position
  • Be able to provide competent basic life support skills on an adult, child and infant
  • Be able to recognise and use appropriate basic resuscitation equipment
  • Assess the need for defibrillation
  • Become effective in the safe use of an automated external defibrillator
  • Be able to check and maintain your defibrillator and resuscitation equipment
  • Understand the importance of recording and reporting incidence to the appropriate establishment
  • Understand what anaphylaxis is
  • How to recognise a reaction
  • Know how to manage and treat an anaphylactic reaction (including the use of adrenaline & auto-injectors)
