Who is the qualification for ?

This qualification is ideal for students who wish to improve their IT skills and increase their knowledge about competency when working with IT in a current job role.  The course is aimed at those who use IT to deliver a variety of administration tasks on a daily basis as part of their job and is applicable to all work environments and sectors.

The aim of this qualification is to :

- Develop their knowledge and understanding of IT

- Develop their skills and competencies in IT which could include: basic desktop technology, sectuirty management, IT support processes and tools, the use of communications and mobile technologies

- Demonstrate competencies in the workplace

 

This qualification will give candidates the opportunity to:

- Achieve a nationally recognised qualification valued by employers

- Prepare for employment in a wide variety of job roles where IT is used

- Develop skills and competence in the workplace and increased confidence

- Improve employability

- Progress to further study in Further Education (FE) or Higher Education (HE)

Programme delivery

This qualification is regulated in the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).  The programme consists of units based on the national occupational standards developed by the Tech Partnership the Sector Skills Council for Business and Information Technology.

The programme will be delivered by a fully qualified and occupationally competent assessor on a one to one basis using a variety of methods and delivered flexibly according to the needs of the learner. We undertake an in depth initial assessment process with all our students so that we can put individuals on the correct level of course to suit individual needs and aspirations. In order to achieve this qualification a candidate must achieve a minimum of 55 credits made up of mandatory and optional units by producing a portfolio of evidence. This will then be internally quality assessed and externally certified by the Awarding Body OCR.
