Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillator (AED and BLS/CPR)

Aims

This full day Automated External Defibrillation and Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) training course teaches the essentials skills to operate an Automated External Defibrillation (AED) as well as basic resuscitation techniques. A vital course for any business that has an AED on site.

Learning Outcomes

After this training course delegates will be able to:

  1. Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally.
  2. Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally.
  3. Know how to safely use an automated external defibrillator.
  4. Be able to safely use an automated external defibrillator.


Duration

This course lasts approximately 6 hours.


Certification

The course is assessed through tutor observation and a multiple choice question paper, delegates will only be awarded a pass if they have displayed the required understanding and competence. Delegates will be issued with certificates of compliance valid for a period of 3 year. Nurses can evidence 6 hours of participatory learning for their NMC Revalidation.

This training course is only available to employers (NHS Trusts, CCG's, Care Providers, Independent Hospitals) that are able to provide onsite training facilities for groups of 4 - 12 delegates per training session.
