Individuals, who work with or provide care and support to people with dementia, have a duty and a responsibility to gain a good understanding of the condition. Dementia awareness ensures that families, care workers, managers and service providers enable people living with dementia to have the highest quality of life, dignity and independence. We believe that by undertaking this training module you will increase and update your knowledge of the ways that dementia affects people.

• Understand what dementia is and who it affects
• Understand some of the experiences of people with dementia
• Understand lifestyle choices which can help to prevent dementia
• Understand the difference between the medical and social models of care

Dementia Awareness course is a half day workshop and is for 12 - 15 learners. Additional learners may be negotiated at additional cost. Learners will receive a workbook to facilitate retaining and refreshing knowledge following the course. Certificates of attendance will be sent following the course and a Training Evaluation report following learner feedback.
