This popular customer service course is designed to support GP and medical receptionists in a demanding role and to increase patient satisfaction. We already work with the large majority of GP surgeries in Oxfordshire as well as many in surrounding counties, and the course is now available in other parts of the UK. Since 2007, over 1000 GP and medical receptionists have attended this lively and interactive day and almost all participants score the day as Excellent or Very Good.

The date below is for a course open to everyone.  We can also tailor it to a surgery's or hospital's specific objectives and run it in house.

  • new as well as experienced medical receptionists for whom it is a valuable update
  • dispensary and administration staff

Objectives:

  • To provide a first class customer service to patients
  • To increase positive feedback from patients and colleagues
  • To benefit from sharing good practice with receptionists from other surgeries

Content:

  • Appreciating what receptionists already do well
  • Considering things from the patients' point of view and delivering service from this perspective
  • Using our tones and language to influence a positive response
  • Looking at how receptionists can focus on what they can do for patients and colleagues rather than concentrating on what they can't do
  • Dealing with ‘difficult’ and demanding/stressed and aggressive patients

Participants receive a certificate of attendance. There is an option to arrange a follow up coaching session with Julia by phone to support the implementation of new ideas.

The Trainer

Julia Dionian is passionate about delivering excellent service to customers and patients and helping others develop their skills to make a positive difference to someone’s day. She specialises in delivering courses in the medical sector, including GP, dental and veterinary surgeries, alternative therapy practices, NHS and private hospitals.
