    Emergency First Aid at Work

    This qualification is based on the HSE training standard for delivery of First Aid at Work courses for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.

    The aim of the qualification is to enable learners to attain the knowledge and competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations. Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of the first aider.

    Intended audience

    The qualification is designed for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide First Aid when dealing with an emergency situation.

    Structure of the qualification

    This qualification is comprised of one mandatory unit with a total value of 1 credit with 8 guided learning hours*

    *Minimum contact teaching hours apply to this qualification - to comply with HSE/Skills for Health guidance the EFAW qualification should be delivered in no less than 6 hours (1 day) excluding breaks.

    Note – Whilst a first aider’s certificate has expired, that person will not be accepted as a workplace first aider under the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, so employers should be encouraged to requalify their first aiders early. 

    Learner outcomes

    The Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work has one unit that Learners are required to complete in order to achieve the qualification.

    Emergency First Aid at Work
    • Understand the role & responsibilities of a first aider.
    • Be able to assess an incident.
    • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally.
    • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally.
    • Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking.
    • Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding.
    • Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock.
    • Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury.

    Course cost

    The Emergency First Aid at Work course is delivered in-house for clients across the UK and globally at a time to suit you. The cost of this, inclusive of learner resources, handouts, Emergency First Aid Made Easy books and certificates*, is from just £600.00 for up to 12 people. 

    Alternatively, join one of our regular open access Emergency First Aid at Work courses in Balham for £125.00 per person.

    A certificate valid for 3 years is issued by Simply First Aid*.

    *Simply First Aid is approved to deliver qualifications listed on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). If you would like QCF certification, this is available at an additional cost.
