This dementia awareness course helps healthcare practitioners to understand the symptoms and characteristics of dementia. Learners can also find out more about the support that is available to people with dementia in their local area, with examples of information, advice and support.

This course provides an introduction to dementia for anyone working in health or social care environments. This includes clinical and non-clinical staff as well as volunteers.

Assessment

Learning progress and test results can be tracked by managers for internal development and learners can keep a certificate of completion for CPD.

The Dementia Awareness course has been created with the help of colleagues at the Association of Dementia Studies at Worcester University who were instrumental in creating the Stand By Me education resource and e-learning materials.

The course is designed to meet the requirements of the 'Awareness of Mental Health, Dementia & Learning Disabilities' standard within the Care Certificate.

What is the difference between this awareness course and the free Stand By Me Dementia training?

This dementia awareness course focuses more on what dementia is to raise awareness of the disease. By contrast, the free Stand By Me Dementia course focuses on the care pathways available to the patient and families and less on the details of dementia itself.
