Delivery Method: Work Experience The Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospital Trust acknowledges its social responsibility to engage with young people within the local community by offering work related learning opportunities.
We are committed to providing work experience placements to assist people in developing an understanding of working life in a health care setting. If you are thinking of a career in the NHS then work experience could be for you. Having the chance to experience a working environment prior to making a career choice will prove very valuable in helping you plan your long-term future.
Work experience in the Royal offers the opportunity to sample a variety of jobs, across the whole range of interest and academic ability. The Trust can offer a wide range of work experience placements in clinical and non-clinical areas. You will be supported by a mentor throughout your visit with us. The mentor will explain the daily duties of the job role and offer advice and guidance.

Skills you will learn
- Challenging conversations - Telephone conversations with patients giving information on appointment/admissions including cancellations
- Communicating with different staff groups – including composing emails to internal staff, generating template letters to patients and direct telephone correspondence
- Technology skills – including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Specialist Technology Skills – using internal patient information systems to support the patient journey through the hospital
- Logistics – monitoring the movement of patient records through the organisation maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
- Scanning/Photocopying – this also includes an element file management
Requirements for work experience applicants
- Agree dates, times, location and anticipated content of placement
- Advise your job centre representative of any specific needs you may have
- Black trousers or
knee length skirt, black shoes, smart blouse/shirt
- Immunisation against MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) - You will be required to upload a scanned confirmation of this from your GP. Your JCP+ representative will be able to help with this.

Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00
- Each placement last for two consecutive weeks, with the start dates listed below
Patient Contact
- There is no direct patient contact with this work experience opportunity
Locations:
For this placement, week one is at Royal Liverpool Hospital, with week two at Broadgreen University Hospital.

After booking, please report to the L&D department upon arrival to collect an ID badge
