Learning Aims:

  • To introduce managers to the basic principles and techniques of coaching.
  • To enable them to develop coaching skills as part of their management toolkit.

Learning Objectives:

On completion of this day you will be able to:

  • Define what coaching is and how it can be used effectively in the workplace
  • Explain the value of coaching to enhance performance
  • Describe the coaching process and some models and tools
  • Develop key coaching skills – focussed listening, powerful questioning, giving and receiving feedback, supporting goal-setting and problem- solving
  • Practice coaching skills

Pre-course Preparation

The bite-sized classroom session is deliberately planned as a short session to make it accessible to as many people as possible. In order to cover the essentials, it is therefore important to prepare for the session by reading through the Pre-course reading and completing the exercise on listening. We will be discussing the exercise, so please bring it to the session. Details of the pre-course reading will be sent following booking.
