Safe Use of Syringe Drivers (CME McKinley T34) Training

For nurses and healthcare professionals

This syringe driver training course is designed for nurses and healthcare workers. Delivered by our qualified Nurse Educators, who have experience and competency in operating and troubleshooting syringe drivers in real-life situations.

Syringe drivers (or pumps) are a reliable way to administer medication to patients who are unable to take treatments orally - due to persistent vomiting, obstructions, unresponsiveness, or an inability to swallow tablets and/or liquids. They can be used to deliver analgesics, antiemetics, antibiotics as well as many other types of medicines used in recovery, rehabilitation, and palliative care.

This course is based around the use of the CME McKinley T34 syringe driver which is used in care home environments. All trainees will have the opportunity to practice using the T34 during the training process.

Syringe drivers must be used only by qualified staff. This training course will allow nurses and healthcare workers to learn a new skill or refresh their knowledge on their use.
