Nasogastric feeding involves the placement of a thin plastic tube into the nasal cavity and down into the stomach. This is used to provide nutrition and medicines directly to a patient especially when there are issues or difficulties swallowing, eating solid food, or taking oral medications, for any variety of medical reasons. Nasogastric tube training ensures workers have the correct clinical skills to provide optimum care and support for patients with illnesses and health conditions of a severe, chronic or debilitating nature. Delivered by qualified medical professionals with first-hand experience of working with NGT patients, our training course will prepare healthcare workers with the required theoretical and practical experience needed as a basis for in-work competency assessments.
NG tube insertion, feeding and management are delicate procedures that require expert training to ensure patient safety and comfort. Our NGT training course covers:
4 - 6 hours depending upon your requirements, at a time and location suited for you.
The course process consists of continual assessment by the course tutor, case studies, practical scenarios, OSCE's and workbook completion. Guardian Angels Training will provide the necessary competency proformas required to ensure safe and evidenced-based clinical practice following completion of our training course, allowing the registered provider to ensure mandatory competency assessments are completed within the workplace by a nominated mentor/supervisor. Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a certificate valid for 2 years.
