Palliative Care Masterclass Series for General Practitioners

The role of the GP in enabling the provision of high quality end-of-life care in the community is pivotal.

Our programme of masterclasses builds on existing skills and knowledge, and offers consultant-led education and advice to more fully equip GPs to respond to the current and emerging challenges within end-of-life care.

To support GPs in the development of their end-of-life care skills, Prospect Hospice has developed a Palliative Care Masterclass Series for General Practitioners.

This one day bespoke course is aimed at all general practitioners seeking to improve their skills in managing the complexities often associated with the provision of end-of-life care. This includes:

  • ‘Amitriptyline to Zomorph via Oxycodone and beyond’ Successful pain management in palliative care patients
  • ‘Managing your 1%’ How to optimise care for your patients in the last year of their lives including advance care planning, and services available to support GPs.
  • ‘Achieving a successful home death’ The ‘how to’ guide for general practitioners including syringe driver conversions and just-in-case medications, ethical dilemmas and services available.
