Our challenging behaviour course discusses the reasons and outcomes why a service user displays behaviour that challenges. It gives staff the knowledge to recognise triggers, assess antecedents, behaviour and consequences. Staff are shown and given strategies to use to help the person manage their behaviour. These skills and knowledge promote positive attitude to working with challenging behaviour.

Course Aims:

What is Challenging Behaviour?

Lack of communication skills / who can exhibit challenging behaviour / what do you think is challenging behaviour / Are there triggers

Difficult or Problem Behaviour

Aggression / Destruction / self injury / Tantrums

Why does it happen?

Mental Health problems / Lack of communication skills / Lack of social skills / Lack of understanding / Learnt behaviour

What Can We Do

Give time / Give understanding / Try different approaches e.g.; rewarding the better behaviours, as opposed to the bad behaviours

This training course is available as in-house training at a venue of your own choice throughout the UK.
