Unit 1: Consider nutritional needs of a variety of individuals

This unit will provide employees with knowledge of how nutritional needs vary with age. Staff will develop their understanding of the special dietary requirements of vegetarians, individuals with certain religious beliefs and those with allergies. Staff will also gain an awareness of the factors that create barriers to healthy eating.

Unit 2: Explore the principles of healthy eating

This unit will develop employee’s understanding of how diet affects a person’s health. Employees will then look at how the five food groups contribute to a healthy diet and the role of different nutrients in maintaining health. This unit also provides staff with an understanding of healthy food preparation.

Unit 3: Understanding stress

This unit will provide staff with an understanding of stress and its causes. Employees will develop an appreciation of what stress feels like and the symptoms that may be experienced. This unit covers the variety of ways in which stress can be managed.

Unit 4: Understanding anxiety

Throughout this unit, employees will gain an understanding of anxiety and its causes by developing an appreciation of what anxiety feels like for the individual and the symptoms that may be experienced. Staff will discover ways in which anxiety can be managed and treated, and will also gain an understanding of the roles and needs of the individual’s family and friends.

Unit 5: Principles of equality and diversity in the workplace

This unit will provide staff with an understanding of standards and expectations for equality and diversity in the workplace, with reference to relevant legislation.
