Target audience: Locum Doctors & Agency Workers; Private Healthcare Providers, Nurses; Healthcare Assistants; Support Workers; Care Home Staff & Domiciliary Care Workers

Skills for Health CSTF training daily fee: £695 + VAT

Maximum delegates: 20 delegates per session (any health & social care workers)

Course duration: Full day (7.5 hours - usually 0930-1630)

Certification: Certificate of attendance electronically issued per each delegate (valid for 1 year) next working day

Course format: Trainer will cover key legislation, regulations and recommended practice. The course will also include demonstrations, simulations, role play and assessments in line with CQC key lines of enquiry (KLOEs), Skills for Health UK Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF), Skills for Care, Resuscitation Council (UK), Health and Safety Executive and the National Back Exchange

Dress code: Wear casual/comfortable clothing as role play and practical assessment is required.

Schedule of training: Annual refresher as per regulatory guidelines

Do you require equipment for training demonstrations and assessments?

Our trainer will provide all light training equipment, including; resuscitation manikins, automated external defibrillator (AED), choking vests, pocket masks, hoist slings, transfer boards and handling belts. If you require large/heavy equipment, such as; standing/mobile hoists or rota stands, this will incur an additional fee of £295.

Important information about mandatory training delivery

  • The training venue should be quiet and uninterrupted throughout.
  • Staff should not be expected to be on duty and must attend the full session to be certified.
  • We offer flexible dates, call to book a day that suits you and your business.

    Who should take these Skills for Health Aligned mandatory training courses?

    These CSTF aligned mandatory elearning courses are designed for health and social care workers who work in NHS hospitals, private hospitals and related settings. This includes nurses, doctors, allied health professionals and health and social care support workers, as well as locum doctors, agency nurses, support workers and healthcare assistants.

    Health and social care workers who do not have client facing roles may be required to only take some of these statutory and mandatory courses. Please check with your employer which courses you require. The Mandatory Training Group will not be responsible if you take the wrong courses.

    Why are these mandatory courses required?

    The Skills for Health UK Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) was developed to standardise health and social care statutory and mandatory training across the UK. Standardisation of these courses helps to minimise variations between different clinical and social care settings as well as reducing risk and harm to patients and healthcare workers.

    What are the aims & learning outcomes of the CSTF mandatory training?

    The UK Core Skills Training Framework is based on current legislative requirements, relevant guidelines, evidence from the latest research and best practice recommendations. Some of the mandatory courses such as Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR), Moving and Handling, Fire Safety and Infection Control require face to face training in order to complete the practical assessments.

    How am I assessed?

    On the day of the training; you will be assessed by one of our accredited training instructors for the topics covered above. You will then receive a certificate of attendance from the Mandatory Training Group within 24 hours of attending the practical session. You will then assigned a range of relevant e-learning modules to complete at your earliest convenience. Once you have completed all the online learning materials for this course, you will be required to complete an online assessment. The reason for this online assessment is to test your knowledge regarding the Skills for Health CSTF mandatory training requirements. You will be required to gain a pass mark of at least 80% to pass the e-learning modules.

    Do I receive a certificate?

    All our online courses are accredited and in line with the universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) standards.The CPD standards require a robust process of content development, peer review and compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements.Once you have successfully completed the knowledge test, you will be sent a CPD accredited certificate via email.
