A level 2 course, designed for everyone who might benefit from an understanding of the autism spectrum, including parents, front line care staff, professionals and anyone who has contact with individuals on the spectrum. An introduction to supporting individuals on the autism spectrum, this course will give participants a strong foundation of understanding of the autism spectrum, and how it affects the individuals they support.

Aims:

To develop a working knowledge of Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and Challenging Behaviour.


What prior knowledge or experience is needed?

Some prior knowledge or experience is required, this training is designed to build on existing skills and understanding.

- Autism spectrum disorders

- Triad of Impairments
- Sensory processing disorders

-Central coherence theory

- Theory of mind
- Executive functioning

- Communication approaches within Autism Spectrum Conditions
