Training benefits

On completion of this 15 month standard, apprentices will demonstrate a range of excellent skills such providing leadership, guidance and direction at the frontline of care delivery. They will be instrumental in improving the health and wellbeing of those receiving care and support. The apprenticeship standards “knowledge, skills and behaviours” are developed over the course of the programme via scheduled learning interventions with employer mentors and Lifetime Regional Trainers. Learning activities and coaching sessions are aligned to support the learner to learn, practice and prepare for End Point Assessment.

  • The job they have to do, their main tasks and responsibilities.
  • The importance of having the right values and behaviours and treating people with respect and dignity.
  • The importance of communication and communicating clearly and responsibly.
  • How to support individuals to remain safe from harm (Safeguarding).
  • How to promote health and wellbeing for the individuals they support and work colleagues.
  • How to work professionally and seeking to develop their own professional development and that of work colleagues.

Learners will also complete a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults). This qualification is promoted and valued by employers.

Assessment Practice

Regular evaluation sessions with managers and trainers will allow apprentices to practice end assessment activities such as practical observations, Q&A sessions and a series of professional discussions. To prepare for a final end point assessment apprentices will be asked to complete a number of activities in-between visits to build confidence and competence in the knowledge, skills and behaviours areas.

End Point Assessment:

Apprentices access End Point Assessment following a gateway discussion with their employer and Regional Trainer where entry requirements are discussed, checked and recorded including functional skills at the required level. The Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 End Point Assessment will include the following types of assessment:

  • Situational Judgement Test
  • Professional Discussion
  • Self-Assessment
  • Collate testimonies from people who use services
