This one day introductory classroom based course would be suitable for any staff member who wishes to refresh or increase their understanding and knowledge of medical terminology.

Learners may include administrative staff and those involved in clinical coding, staff working in laboratories, volunteers, domiciliary and health and care support workers, as well as healthcare students. They will be working ina range of service settings and with a wide range of people i.e. Care Homes, Hospices, GP Surgeries, Mental Health Services and Hospitals.

Course Outcomes:

  • Understand how medical terms are structured.
  • Recognise common abbreviations
  • Be able to interpret the meanings of a variety of medical terms by breaking words down into component parts, recognising root words, suffixes and prefixes.
  • Feel more confident in communicating with people they are working with, preparing letters, reports and in recording data.

This programme is delivered face to face in a fun and relaxed group. those taking part will learn through a range of interactive and participative activites, and from practical application of the subject manner.
