This training workshop is designed for a wide range of learners who wish to raise their understanding of mental health. It is particularly relevant for all front line staff working in care settings where the people they are working with may experience mental health issues.

This interactive training discusses how mental health affects people and how we can support them in their needs.

This programme is delivered face to face in a supportive group environment over a 1 day period. You will learn through a range of interactive and participative activities, and from practical application of the subject matter.

Course Outcomes:

  • Basic awareness around mental health, discrimination and stigma.
  • What is mental health - good and poor.
  • Risk factors for developing a mental health problem.
  • Recognising signs and symptoms of common mental health difficulties medications and side effects.
  • Support and caring for a person with a mental health disorder.
  • Referring a person with a mental health disorder.
  • What other support is available.
  • Tools and techniques which help.
  • Consideration of own well-being.
