On the 25th May 2018, the UK will adopt a new piece of legislation known as the EU General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR. This legislation the UK has chosen to adopt in full will be the biggest change of data protection law in the last twenty years, and will replace the current legislation in place, the Data Protection Act 1998.
The essentials of the GDPR training course will cover the key purposes of the new legislation and will give learners a complete GDPR overview, to help those involved with the handling of people’s information to be able to adopt these practises within their organisation. Learners will understand the responsibility of data processing and the role of a data controller – and will be able to make essential changes to ensure your business is prepared for the implementation of GDPR to achieve business compliance training, in accordance to the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office).
This GDPR compliance training course was designed for data processors and compliance officers, or those who handle or are responsible for personal data. Upon completion of this course, learners will fully understand the key changes from the Data Protection Act 1998 to the EU GDPR, will be able to understand what is meant by the term “data”, as well as the different types of data they might come across in the role. Learners will be able to recognise the six principles of the GDPR and what they each mean, will know the rights of data subjects and the control they have over their information, and how to safely handle sensitive data.This course is made up of the following e-learning modules:

This course is aimed at those involved in the handling of people’s information as part of their day to day role. It aims to provide an introduction to the GDPR, it's principles and process and roles and responsibilities under the Regulation. It introduces GDPR and the key compliance obligations of organisations, whilst demonstrating best practice in an engaging and informative way.
This training will take approximately one to two hours to complete, depending on how quickly learners can study and absorb the material. Learners do not have to complete all the training in one session as progress is recorded throughout.
The end of course test consists of 15 multiple choice questions. Learners are required to achieve a 75% pass mark, and, if necessary, may attempt the test three times at no extra cost.
If learners do not achieve the 75% pass mark, further attempts may be given by contacting our support team. Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to download a Virtual College digital certificate. This can be printed, and we suggest you keep it for your records.
