Delivery Method: Face-to-face A half day training session providing learners with the basic first aid actions which can be used to support the individual in the case of injury, accident or health emergency until a more qualified person or the emergency services can attend.
The session is delivered by a NUCO registered trainer but although it includes aspects of the full accredited Emergency First Aid at Work, it is not a recognised qualification.
The course contributes to the knowledge required for Care Certificate Standard 12 and covers the following:
- What is First Aid?
- Legal aspects and responsibilities
- Accident reporting and recording
- First aid boxes
- Primary assessment
- Safe Airway/recovery position
- CPR
- Heart attacks/defibrillators
- Choking
- Bleeding
- Shock
