Places on our first aid at work requalification courses are open to any delegate who has previously completed a first aid at work course. Whether you’ve previously qualified with St John Ambulance, a local college or another provider we look forward to welcoming you to one of our courses. Proof of previous certification will need to be provided.

Training is delivered by knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff all of whom hold adult teaching qualifications supported by professional qualifications.

How do we approach first aid at work re-qualification?

Our course programme employs a variety of teaching techniques to meet the needs of individual delegates and includes the following:

  • Understanding the role of a first aider
  • Contents of a first aid kit
  • Record keeping
  • The unconscious casualty
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the safe use of a defibrillator
  • Management of a choking casualty
  • External bleeding and shock
  • Catastrophic bleeding and the use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings
  • Providing appropriate first aid for minor injuries, including small cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns, scalds and splinters
  • Major illnesses including asthma, anaphylaxis, stroke, angina and heart attacks
  • Fractures, dislocations, strains and sprains
  • Head injuries
  • Eye injuries
  • Poisons
  • Burns and scalds

Owing to the practical nature of this course a basic level of general fitness is required. Delegates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline. Should you have any questions relating to the accessibility of this course please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

This course is of 12 hours (two days) duration

We’ll provide delegates with a variety of printed course materials including workbooks and handouts. On successful completion of this course delegates will receive a printed course certificate indicating compliance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Post course our team of consultants and trainers are available to answer any questions you might have. You’ll also receive an automatic reminder prior to course expiry.

Dates available on arrangement

Acorn Health & Safety Ltd can also create this course for you on arrangement either at your workplace or at one of their locations.

We can provide a wide variety of accredited or tailor-made courses, these can be ‘in-house’ or ‘open’ programmes.

Our ‘in-house’ course programmes are the most cost effective option if you’ve a number of staff requiring training, and in many cases can be adapted to include reference to local policy, practice and documentation. These courses can be delivered either at any suitable venue or you can hire our purpose-built training centre located in Warmley, Bristol, whichever is best suited to your needs.

We also run a rolling programme of ‘open courses’ which are particularly suited for individuals, organisations that only have a few delegates or those looking to release small groups of staff at a time.
