To apply for this course you must fulfil current entry requirements set by your regulatory body in relation to prescribing practice.

UWE Bristol, working in partnership with the University of Bath (UoB), are contracted by Health Education England South West to deliver one multi-professional independent and supplementary prescribing (NMP) programme across the entire South West health community. Successful completion of this programme requires learners to successfully pass the module "Non-Medical Prescribing (Independent and/or Supplementary Prescribing)" and will award successful candidates 40 Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CATS) points.

To comply with regulator entry requirements, the NMP programme for Pharmacists and Paramedics is offered at level 7 (LM). Nurses, Midwives, Physiotherapists, Dietitians, Radiographers, Chiropodists may enrol on either level 7 (LM) or level 6 (L3).


The course is delivered in Bristol, Plymouth, Truro, Bridgewater and Gloucester.

The multi-professional Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) programme combines the learning outcomes, set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). These learning outcomes are appropriated to your profession and proposed prescribing area ensuring that, on successful completion, you will have undertaken an educational preparation which affords you the necessary skills and knowledge to practice as a safe, competent and autonomous prescriber.
