Accelerating Learning for Professionals - Level 1 (Paramedics Conversion Course)

To apply you must be a registered paramedic, nurse or healthcare practitioner.

This paramedics conversion course is delivered at our Glenside Campus.

• Using evidence to underpin professional practice:
  • An introduction to assessing and evaluating evidence
  • Sources of knowledge in personal and professional decision making
  • Sources of evidence, definitions of and approaches to research
  • The advantages and limitations of research based evidence
  • Accountability: justifying professional decisions and actions.
• Information management:
  • Structure of literature, e.g. primary and secondary sources
  • Types of information, e.g. statistics, official publications, non-print media
  • Access to and organisation of sources of information
  • Searching and reviewing the literature
  • Assessing the suitability of information sources
  • Data presentation and interpretation
  • Skills in communicating and presenting information.

Delivery:

You will be able to identify your professional and educational needs through diagnostic assessment culminating in an action learning plan. The emphasis of this Level 1 course will be on facilitating the diverse needs of a range of highly experienced practitioners through a multiple learning approaches. Information retrieval skills, small group work, action learning, seminar work and work-based learning will also be a focus in the delivery of the course and you will be encouraged to draw on your own practice to promote discussion and application of concepts.
