This course is offered at Masters level and is delivered at our Glenside Campus.
The aim of the Negotiated Specialist Ultrasound Practice (1) Masters level course is to provide you with the knowledge base to become a proficient practitioner in your chosen field of medical ultrasound.
The key advantage with this module is in the fact that it provides you with the opportunity to negotiate your own work-based ultrasound module to accommodate your individual professional and departmental needs. You will negotiate the speciality to be studied with the course leader and your work-based manager. The specific content of the course will be negotiated with a member of the academic staff of the faculty and will vary as a function of the identified area of practice.
Delivery:
Scheduled learning constitutes a maximum of 112 hours but will vary according to the subject specialty chosen to study. It will include lectures, seminars, tutorials, demonstrations, practical classes and workshops, external visits, work based learning; supervised practice time in scanning room.
Independent learning includes a minimum of 188 hours but will vary according to the subject specialty chosen to study. It will include activities such as essential reading, case study preparation, assignment preparation and completion, computer assisted learning, simulator scanning, reflection on learning.
Placement learning includes clinical practice placements which are negotiated and organised by the student. These should include a minimum of 15 hours a week of supervised scanning for the duration of the module.
