This one day course has been designed to provide a broad range of basic knowledge relating to the context of supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities.

Objectives/Aims of Course

To promote an awareness of Learning Disabilities, the causes, the historical perspective of service delivery, legislation and communication.

Course Deliverables

This course will provide a certificate of Training for Learning Disability Awareness and will be delivered generally in line with Tier 1 of Health Education England’s “Core Skills Education and Training Framework”, for Learning Disabilities. Content will also provide knowledge towards the City and Guilds Learning Disability units and also the knowledge requirements for the Care Certificate's standard 9.

Who Should Attend (including pre-requisites)

All staff completing the Care Certificate and anyone who wishes to gain an awareness of Learning Disabilities
