OOMPH! Workshop

West Yorkshire & Harrogate Excellence Centre
Delivery Method: Face-to-face

Engagement with meaningful activities and well-being are closely linked and important for anyone, and especially so for individuals living in care environments & for those who receive support and/or care. Studies have shown that even the lightest of additional physical exercise can go some way to reducing falls and joint pain and in the case of those who are supporting people- being more engaged in the clients’ wellbeing can have an impact on job satisfaction levels and generally everyone is happier.

This interactive workshop is suitable for anyone who supports people in care settings or in their day to day activities, and provides a snapshot of ways in which you can improve the physical and mental well-being of those you care for or work with through a person centred approach.

The taster training session is being delivered by oomph wellness, an organisation who offer a unique approach that lifts the mood of not just those needing support and care but those in the environment.

The session will provide you with an overview of the oomph wellness programme and give you ideas for creative activities and exercise classes that you can implement in your workplace. Come along and join the energy and buzz of a fun and thought provoking session to see how you can help your residents and clients to live life to the full and make a positive difference.

The Workshop will run from 9.30am till 1pm, with refreshments from 9am. Please note lunch will not be provided.

Alison Ackew (July 2018)
I would recommend this course to anyone who is interested in thinking outside the box and wants to empower family members or those they work with to build activity into their everyday lives.
The course was well delivered with a good mixture of background theory, group work and activities. What made this course stand out for me was the emphasis on promoting well-being using a personalised approach, and the understanding that what activity means to one person may be very different to another.
