This Allergy Professional Development module is designed for healthcare professionals who wish to develop their skills in managing patients with allergy.
Allergy is now considered to be the ‘number one environmental disease’ affecting 1 in 3 people in the UK. It can affect several organ systems including the skin, lungs, nose and gut and can result in anaphylaxis which is occasionally fatal. This module will teach you how to recognise allergy in each organ system and design management strategies to improve patients’ lives.

What will I study?

By the end of the module you will be able to:

  • Recognise the importance of allergy as a multi-organ disease
  • Identify the treatment implications for allergy in multiple organ systems
  • Develop an evidence based approach to the diagnosis and management of symptomatic patients
  • Recommend and justify appropriate treatment options
  • Understand the allergic response as it relates to symptoms and their management.
