The Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship is an integrated programme of knowledge and skills acquisition, developed alongside core behaviours expected of a competent worker operating in a regulated field. Adult Care Workers need to have the right values and behaviours developing competences and skills to provide high quality compassionate care and support.
Adult Care Workers may work in:
During the On-programme assessment, the apprentice will undertake:
•The Care Certificate
• C&G Level 2 Diploma in Care
• Completion of Self-Assessment exercise
• Collate testimonies from people who use their services
• Functional Skills Level 1 in English and Maths
Assessment Gateway – the above must be completed before the apprentice is adjudged ready (by their employer and Training Provider) to undertake the end-point assessment
End Point Assessment – undertaken by Independent End Point Assessment Organisation. The Training Provider will ensure that the apprentice is ready for:
• Situational Judgement Test
• Professional Discussion

The L2 Diploma in Care comprises of the following
Course Units
Mandatory Units – 9 units (24 credits)
These units cover areas such as: • Communication • Personal development • Equality and inclusion • Duty of care • Principles of safeguarding and protection • The role of the health and social care worker • Person centred approaches • Health and safety • Handling information
Optional Units - (minimum 22 credits)
The optional units available are designed to add flexibility to the real working context of the candidate. In addition to familiar health and social care contexts, there are also optional units related to dementia, mental health, infection control, learning and physical disabilities.
Functional Skills
These are functional skills that are critical to develop and succeed in the workplace today. There are two key skill areas which participants complete through a combination of work-based assessments and on-screen exams: You will also need to sit exams at L2 on completion of L1
Functional Skills.
• Maths Level 1
• English Level 1
It is also expected that the apprentice attends an invigilation location to undertake their functional skills on-screen exams
Gateway to End Point Assessment
On completion of the on-programme assessment the Employer and Training Provider will agree that the apprentice meets the requirement of the Standard. The Training Provider will ensure that the candidate has been fully prepared in readiness for the End Point Assessment that will be undertaken by the candidate and an Independent Assessment Organisation
Course Delivery
An Assessor will visit the candidate at their workplace at least once a month for a minimum of 2 hours. In between visits candidates will be expected to complete work to ensure progress is made.
