Please note that the e- learning packages outlined below learning to support the knowledge component of the Care Certificate Standards and do not replace workplace assessment of competency and organisational sign off. This element of the Care Certificate needs to be undertaken through observation and assessment in the workplace.

Who is the Care Cert e learning aimed at ? The Care Certificate products outlined below are suitable for all new recruits to health and Care organisations i.e. Apprentices, Healthcare Assistants and Care Workers as well as existing staff who want to gain all or some of the Care Certificate standards. They have potential to be used with students undertaking health and social care courses or job seekers on employability programmes.


West Yorkshire and Harrogate Excellence Centre - "Care Cert online"

Developed through the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Excellence Centre this web-enabled online mobile application is designed to provide an alternative modern and blended learning solution to support knowledge acquisition and assessment of the Care Certificate. The application includes an embedded e-learning programme with underpinning knowledge required for the Care Certificate. Questions and exercises enable learners to record knowledge plus a method of real time assessment of learner’s knowledge and an electronic portfolio of knowledge evidence. The package is supported with guidance and support for users, supervisors and assessors.

E-Learning for Health (e-lfh) - Care Certificate e-learning programme for the health and care workforce

This free online e-learning programme has been developed to further support the theoretical component of each standard of the Care Certificate, and is freely available to staff in the health and care sectors. It is based on the Care Certificate workbook, which was developed by Health Education England, Skills for Care and Skills for Health.

As well as an e- learning programme with self-assessment, student and assessor toolkits the learning package includes five scenario sessions to support the application of the Care Certificate standards in a range of health and social care settings i.e.

  • Primary care
  • Acute care
  • Community/home care
  • End-of-life care
  • Mental health care
