This course is for all healthcare professionals who need to refresh or improve upon their current understanding of mental health.

One in four adults have been diagnosed with a form of mental illness at some stage during their lifetime. (Source: Annual Health Survey)

This training course will ensure you are equipped with the relevant knowledge of mental health disorders to be able to manage and provide a high standard of support.

You will explore how mental health issues impacts individuals over their lifetime, the wider implications for their family and society, and how the media influence perceptions of mental health.

  • The statistics surrounding prevalence, trends and inequalities in mental health
  • Attitudes to mental health and associated stigma
  • The causes, symptoms and treatment of common mental health problems, including:

    3. Anxiety Disorders (Including OCD)
    4. Psychosis
    5. Self-Harm
    6. Eating Disorders
    7. Dementia
  • How to respond initially to someone experiencing a mental health emergency
