This is a unique masterclass being offered through the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Clinical Stroke Network, delivered by Tony Goddard, Consultant Neuroradiologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

This will be a 2 hour session, mainly targeted towards YAS Medics and Nurses working at “the front end”. The session aims to improve understanding of how imaging is used to diagnose stroke subtypes and select patients for mechanical thrombectomy; there will also be opportunity to discuss the shape of the stroke service of the future in Yorkshire.

The contents of the masterclass will include:

  • Basic pathophysiology of stroke and how this is imaged.
  • Imaging of main stroke subtypes.
  • Review of evidence for mechanical thrombectomy.
  • Patient selection and the use of advanced imaging.
  • Case presentations of stroke treatment.
  • A description of Leeds and Yorkshire pathway and future advances.
