Mental health is a level of psychological well-being or an absence of mental illness. It is the “psychological state of someone who is functioning at a satisfactory level of emotional and behavioural adjustment”. Mental health includes emotional, psychological, and social well-being.

  • The common mental health conditions: signs and symptoms, causes, treatment and support of anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and phobias,
  • The less-common mental health conditions: signs and symptoms, causes, treatment and support of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia,
  • Personality disorder: general features, common themes, the different types of personality disorder, causes, treatment and support,
  • Where to find additional information and support for people who have mental health problems, and
  • Be able to implement recommended principles that help health and social care staff to improve their interaction with people who have mental health problems.
