Who is this course aimed at?

The Award is targeted at those wanting to gain an introduction to management and leadership skills, qualities and knowledge required for a management role. It is also the stepping stone for more advanced studies towards the Certificate and Diploma.

Course Objective:

This course provides understanding and skills required of a manager/leader in an organisational context, through applying current theories.

Entry Requirements:

You need to be aged 19 or over to do this course.

Course Delivery:

The course is delivered online and is self paced. Presentations of material, assignments and other resources are available on the Moodle site. This is a 10 credit qualification on the QCF, with a notional 60 hours of learning involved.

The unit focuses on understanding how current theories of management and leadership can be applied to specific workplace situations. It looks at the personal and professional skills needed for effective management and investigates situations where different leadership skills are appropriate. Learners will compare and evaluate theories and gain insight into specific leadership requirements in an organisation. This unit also helps learners develop their own management and leadership skills through assessing requirements for job roles and considering against competencies.
