Understanding Islam to meet the needs of Muslim patients and service users.
The term holistic means to look at all aspects that make up a person. It means to look at how all the individual’s characteristics are integrated and how they impact on each other. Therefore, we don’t just view people from one perspective, but we look at all factors, including the physical, emotional, social and cultural aspects of who they are. This helps to provide person centred care.
Meeting the religious and spiritual needs of patients and service users is also a crucial part in this holistic view of delivering services and may aid recovery and well-being.
