Senior Healthcare Support Workers work in a range of settings for example in a hospital, as part of a community team, in a day-case unit, birthing centre, individual’s homes, operating theatres, nursing or care homes, hospices and in general practice.
The broad purpose of the occupation is to support registered healthcare professionals in the delivery of high quality and compassionate health and care services. A Senior Healthcare Support Worker will provide clinical, therapeutic or diagnostic care under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered healthcare professional. For this standard there are 6 core units and one specialist option which, in the primary care setting will most probably be Adult Nursing Support
Fees and Duration
The Course costs £5K but with government funding there is a 5% co-contribution payable by the employer unless they have access to Levy funding.
The Course will last for 15 months including 3 months for EPA
End Point Assessment
Candidates are supported and coached towards the End Point Assessment, gathering their portfolio of evidence for assessment. The EPA will comprise of:
