The Level 2 Award in Moving, Assisting and Hoisting ensures that healthcare support workers and adult social care workers recognise the principles of safe moving and assisting and the safe use of equipment such as hoists.
At First Response Training we can provide face-to-face, classroom-based courses inhouse at your premises or venue of your choice, open courses at our public venues and a range of e-learning, distance learning and webinar courses, as well as blended learning solutions.
By the end of this course learners will be able to
- Understand the legislation surrounding moving and assisting
- Understand common injuries caused by moving and assisting and how to avoid them
- Understand the principles of risk assessment and ergonomics
- Be able to explain controversial techniques
- Know how to deal with falling / fallen clients
- Understand the importance of effective communication and team positioning
- Be confident in moving and assisting techniques including lateral transfers and hoist techniques
Course syllabus:
- Anatomy and physiology
- Legislation, policy and responsibilities.
- Risk assessment, ergonomics and person handling plans
- Personal safety, principles of safer moving and handling, communication, team work, participation, person centered approaches, advice and assistance and recording assessment.
- Practical exercises
- Course conclusion and competition of 'Record of Practical Activity' form
Certificate title: Level 2 Award in Moving, Assisting and Hoisting
Certificate validity: 3 years
