The Level 2 Specialist Award in PEG Feeding Awareness gives learners the underpinning knowledge of the principles of PEG feeding.
At First Response Training we can provide face-to-face, classroom-based courses inhouse at your premises or venue of your choice, open courses at our public venues and a range of e-learning, distance learning and webinar courses, as well as blended learning solutions.
By the end of this course learners will:
- To understand what tube feeding is
- To have a basic understanding of surgical insertion of feeding tubes in relation to job role
- To manage infection risks associated with established feeding tubes
- To review standard procedures in relation PEG feeding for nutrition purposes
- To review standard procedures in relation to the delivery of medication via feeding tubes

- Guidance and key terms of Enteral Feeding
- Anatomy and physiology of the digestive system
- Surgical insertion of PEG
- Indications for PEG feeding and associated risks
- Principles of nutritional administration – gravity/bolus/pump
- Care of equipment
- Roles and responsibilities in PEG feeding
- Recognising potential complications
- Guidance on administration of medicines via PEG
Certificate title: Level 2 Specialist Award in PEG Feeding Awareness
Certificate validity: 3 years
