The Level 2 Award in Personal Care provides healthcare support workers and adult social care workers with the knowledge required to provide their service user with personal care in a dignified and empowering way.

At First Response Training we can provide face-to-face, classroom-based courses inhouse at your premises or venue of your choice, open courses at our public venues and a range of e-learning, distance learning and webinar courses, as well as blended learning solutions.

By the end of this course learners will:

• Explain the role of the carer when toileting a service user
• Describe incontinence and its control
• Explain the need for the service user to carry out personal hygiene procedures
• Describe the process involved in intimate care

Course syllabus:

• Legislation
• Importance of staff own high standards of personal hygiene
• Daily care - care plans
• Toileting and continence - urinary and faecal incontinence
• Intimate care- colostomy and catheters
• Basic observations including pressure care
• Mobility
• Nutrition and hydration
• Personal hygiene:
  • Washing and bathing
  • rooming
  • correct hand washing
  • bed making
  • laundry

Certificate title: Level 2 Award in Personal Care
