The Level 2 Award in Self-Harm Awareness provides basic knowledge of self-harm, its causes, how to recognise signs of self-harm and how to support individuals who self-harm.

At First Response Training we can provide face-to-face, classroom-based courses inhouse at your premises or venue of your choice, open courses at our public venues and a range of e-learning, distance learning and webinar courses, as well as blended learning solutions.

By the end of this course learners will:

• Define self-harm
• Describe the link between self-harm, mental health and suicide
• Explore strategies to support individuals and reduce the need to self-harm
• State legislation and policies related to self-harm
• Know support services available

Course syllabus:

• Definitions and beliefs associated with self-harm
• Types and causes of self-harm
• Self-harm, mental heath and the media
• The cycles of self-harm
• Strategies to reduce or avoid self-harm, ad further help and support
