The Level 3 Award in Immediate Life Support provides candidates with the appropriate knowledge to identify Cardiorespiratory Arrest and provide practical intermediate life support treatment.
At First Response Training we can provide face-to-face, classroom-based courses inhouse at your premises or venue of your choice, open courses at our public venues and a range of e-learning, distance learning and webinar courses, as well as blended learning solutions.
By the end of this course learners will:
- Understand common causes of cardiac arrest
- Understand means of preventing Cardiac Arrest
- Understand the ABCDE approach to Cardiac Arrest
- Understand basic (non-invasive) airway management techniques
- Demonstrate safe usage and knowledge of Defibrillation
- Understand post resuscitation Care
Course syllabus:
- Multi-choice question assessment on ILS, assessment on prior leaning of ILS knowledge and pre course reading evaluation
- Human Factors, situational awareness, decision making, team working, SBAR, reporting
- Recognition of a deteriorating patient, prevention of in hospital cardiac arrest, EWS, NEWS2, MET calling
- Skills of first responder, equipment, algorithm
- Algorithm, chest compressions, reversible causes
- Airway management and ventilation, cases of obstruction, treatment, techniques, adjuncts, pocket mask, OPA
- Electrical conductive system/recognition of cardiac arrest rhythms, reasons for ECG monitoring, how to monitor, recognition of cardiac arrest rhythms
- Environmental safety factors of defibrillation
- Factors effecting defibrillation success
- Safe defibrillation to ILS
- Post-resuscitation care of a patient, post arrest syndrome, continued resuscitation after return of spontaneous circulation
- Oxygen and pulse oximetry, limitations, uses, special clinical situations
- Management of a simulated patient in cardiac arrest to ILS standards
- Multi-choice exam
