Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) and bacterial vaginosis (BV) are the most common causes of vaginitis.1 This article focuses on the aetiology of uncomplicated VVC and BV in women aged 16 to 60 years. It considers evidence-based therapeutic options available over the counter and situations when medical referral is required.
