Sexual Health is a significant part of all round health. Essential components of good sexual health are equitable relationships and sexual fulfilment with access to information and services to avoid the risk of uninitiated pregnancy, illness or disease.
This course aims to equip people working with young people or their families to understand the pressures and issues faced by young people; it covers both national and local issues, with sections customised for specific local (geographical) areas. This module covers national issues, but also has specific information for the Blackpool region (any organisations in other regions who would like a locally focused version for their area – please contact us to discuss). Sexual Health promotion encompasses any activity that promotes positive sexual health; reduces the incidence of sexually transmitted infections including HIV, reduces unintended pregnancies including teenage pregnancy, promotes sex and relationships education, brings about change in prejudice, stigma and discrimination.
This Virtual College course aims to help learners to understand where to signpost young people who have questions about their sexual health, to share decision making where the sexual health of a young person is an issue and to make sure you know your role and how it is affected by the policies in place.
