Haemorrhoids: causes, evaluation and management

Haemorrhoids are common in the Western world, although incidence is difficult to quantify as only a minority of sufferers seek treatment.1 Although most cases are straightforward to treat,2,3 complications can occur.4 Careful evaluation is important to rule out other causes. This module covers haemorrhoid risk factors and symptoms, identifying ‘red flags’ and the latest guidance on management.
