We hear the phrase equality and diversity all of the time. Whether that is in the newspaper, on the TV, online or in our workplace. But what does it actually mean and how can we make sure that we create a working environment that offers true equality?

A common misconception is that equality means treating people the same and that is where we often go wrong.

Organisations need to implement equality and diversity policies and practices. Not only to ensure that they comply with legislation, but to create a respectful and inclusive workplace and workforce.

Individuals needs to understand what those policies mean and how they apply the practices outlined within them.

This Equality and Diversity course focuses on

  • The concepts of engagement and participation
  • Understanding skills, knowledge and support needed by people in active participation roles
  • Creating an environment which encourages engagement and participation
  • The need for quality monitoring and evaluation of engagement practice
