Anaphylaxis is a potentially life-threatening, serious allergic reaction to an allergen. Allergens are wide and varied, the most common of these are food substances, insect stings or medications. If it is not treated appropriately, it may cause death.

CPD Hours - 2 hours 

This training is suitable for Health Care Professionals, First Aiders and staff members working in a child care environment. The training is in line with Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines.

Topics included in the training:

  • Epidemiology of anaphylaxis
  • Understanding what anaphylaxis is
  • What happens in an anaphylactic reaction
  • Common causes of anaphylaxis
  • How to recognise the symptoms of a severe allergic reaction using the ABCDE approach
  • Demonstration of how to use all currently licensed adrenaline injectors, including EpiPen, Emerade and Jext
  • Demonstration of administration of adrenaline from glass ampoule and injection technique
  • How to respond effectively in an emergency
  • Manage risks in school, early years and other community settings
