Aimed at anyone who supports young people 8-18 the course develops understanding of common mental health issues, alongside confidence to spot signs of mental ill health in children and young people and guide them to a place of support.

You'll receive a comprehensive manual with Mental Health First Aid guidance to help prevent mental health issues, to support a child or young person if they are already struggling or to respond to a mental health crisis.

Course aim:

To develop skills and confidence to spot the signs of mental health issues in a young person, offer first aid and guide them towards the support they need.

Objectives:

By the end of the session participants will have had opportunities to:

  • Develop an understanding of common mental health issues and how they can affect young people
  • Consider how to spot signs of mental ill health in young people and guide them to a place of support
  • Gain knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness
  • Develop skills to support positive wellbeing.
