Learning objectives

- Explain how to recognise and respond to abuse, how to respond to a disclosure, and how to report and record concerns.
- Explore different and appropriate procedures to follow if a child or young person is suspected of experiencing abuse.
- Explore different courses of action to take if abuse of an adult is suspected, as well as local whistleblowing policy procedures.
- Know possible barriers to alerting or referring relevant agencies to an alleged case of abuse, as well as legislation in place currently which relates to the sharing of information.
- Identify signs that could indicate abuse on adults and children at risk.
