DoLS training courses provide employees with the knowledge and understanding of this important procedure set out in the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) legislation. Deprivations of Liberty Safeguards training will cover assessment, legal responsibilities, code of practice, principles of the MCA 2005 and the role of the lasting power of attorney.
These courses are suitable for senior care workers, social workers, care workers, or anyone working in a healthcare and social care setting such as a hospital or care home.
The SCIE (Social Care Institute for Excellence) has provided a detailed overview of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. The CQC (Care Quality Commission) has published a Code of Practice for anyone caring for adults who lack capacity and those that have a duty of care to individuals that lack capacity. MHA Section 12 approved doctors and medical practitioners can complete DoLS Mental Health Assessor training for free on The Royal College of Psychiatrists website. The programme is available free to NHS funded doctors in England and Wales.
